Summer is everyone’s favorite season. However, for certain types of industry workers especially construction workers the scorching heat can be a nightmare and in some cases dangerous.

When exposed to extremely hot weather, workers are at risk of heat stress which leads to heat stroke, exhaustion, cramps, and dizziness.

The way to minimize the risk of heat stress can be through shorter shifts and lots of breaks. Making sure the workers stay hydrated. Drinking lots of water will help them prevent dehydration. Also, it is better to avoid drinking coffee or tea as despite containing water they tend to dehydrate the body instead of the opposite.

Lastly, should the temperatures keep rising and become unbearable, it is best to send the workers home to rest and call it a day. That way illness and health risks are avoided.
